"The joining of husband and wife is one of the most important moments in the couples history. These are memories that will last for a lifetime. Families often come back to the same house of worship generation after generation for this important ceremony. Let's be honest, people look at pictures and videos of these events over and over. The quality of these pictures and videos have become very important. The quality of images is affected not only by the quality of the camera equipment but also by the lighting. A few thoughts to consider: 1 - The aisle that the bride walks down should be lit both from the front, the rear, and from the top. This is the first moment were people begin to take pictures.Ê LetÕs not train our guests that they have to have the flash on to get a good snap of the bride. 2 - The second area is where the groom and bride meet with the spiritual leader. This area also must be lit so that the images come out clearly. Wouldn't it be much nicer to not have to have the flash photography during these moments? It is not necessary to have the light at a blazing intensity. The camera will adjust to the amount of light that is there as long as there is a reasonable amount of light to begin with. It is more the evenness of the light that one should be concerned with. 3 - By adding light and taking light away you can direct the focus of the audience to the areas that should be being looked at at that time of the ceremony. These do not have to be fast changes of intensity but rather be gentle. If these changes in intensity are timed with music it will enhance this spiritual moment of the event. 4 - Keep in mind that many of these events are being videoed.Ê Lighting from multiple directions gives the picture a more dimensional and professional look on camera.Ê Keep the color palette on the subject tight to natural white light."
