Details

Controlling window brightness is easy with Rosco WindowCling filters. Available in three different neutral densities – and in a unique Day For Night Layer – these ultra-thin filters quickly attach to windowpanes using static electricity to attenuate the amount of window-light in a scene. Rosco WindowCling filters are also designed to stack on top of each other in order to achieve the needed brightness level as lighting conditions change outside.

This range of ultra-thin window control filters is designed to attach to windowpanes via static electricity to control the light coming through the window. Rosco WindowCling filters have been engineered to layer on top of each other to achieve the needed window-light level as lighting conditions change outside, and they are available in three standard neutral densities – ND3, ND6 & ND9 – and in a unique Day For Night (D/N) layer.

Key Features:

  • Easy application – just stick it to the window and trim it to size!
  • Quickly add or remove layers to adjust the window’s brightness as daylight conditions change.
  • Reusable – roll the WindowCling back onto its core and save for use on a future project.
  • Turn a daylit scene into a moonlit scene using Rosco’s unique Day For Night Layer.

Specifications:

WindowCling is designed to temporarily attach to flat plastic or glass windows using static electricity. Dry/arid locations are best suited for generating static electricity. When properly applied, a panel of WindowCling will stick to a window for approximately 4-6 weeks depending on environmental
conditions.

Great Idea, Deeply Flawed New Product

The main selling point of this product is easy installation...yet, when we hired a commercial tinting service to install for our production, they had a most difficult time getting this stuff to lay properly. Fingers form within hours, and over the weekend they got progressively worse; one sheet even fell off completely. The manufacturer website claims that when properly installed, it should stay up for 4-6 weeks. Our grip team did their best to re-lay the film over the windows on the day, but nobody was able to get this stuff to lay flat with any consistency. The installer tested it multiple times, using the various resources published online by the manufacturer as a guide, and even included photos. Again, this is an experienced, well-reviewed installer that works with various materials that are meant to be far more permanent...but the static cling always looked really poor. If you need to just filter light, fine. But, if a camera is going to be pointed at the film itself, be aware that it might look terrible and that you may have to reinstall multiple times if your shoot is spread over several days.
